About this paper

A 5-item remainder practice set from the Sir Adnan booklet 'CSS MPT MATH' in the monster-data 'CSS MPT PAST PAPERS' pack. The booklet prints only 9 unique items across 4 pages, with the buffaloes-and-ducks, sum-and-product and series items each repeated two or three times under restarted numbering; nothing was double-counted. Four unique items were NOT republished here: the light-year, sky-blue and earthquake-magnitude items are already published in the CSS MPT 2025 Everyday Science section (css-mpt-2025-everyday-science-section.json), and the 'fastest Wi-Fi = 802.11n' item was dropped as outdated — the current fastest standard is Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), as corrected in that same EDS section. The 5 published items were all rechecked by hand (algebra, cubic differences, letter positions, cylinder formula). The year 2026 is the booklet's 'NEW TREND 2025-26' label, NOT a claimed exam session, and the set is labelled practice, never a past paper.

In a group of buffaloes and ducks, the number of legs is 24 more than twice the number of heads. How many buffaloes are there?

A

12

B

10

C

14

D

24

View answer & explanation Ans: 12

Correct Answer: 12

Let buffaloes = b and ducks = d. Heads = b + d, legs = 4b + 2d. Given 4b + 2d = 2(b + d) + 24, so 4b = 2b + 24 and b = 12.

If the sum of two numbers is 15 and their product is 54, what is the larger number?

A

9

B

6

C

12

D

3

View answer & explanation Ans: 9

Correct Answer: 9

The two numbers are 9 and 6: 9 + 6 = 15 and 9 x 6 = 54, so the larger number is 9 (the quadratic t^2 - 15t + 54 = 0 has roots 9 and 6).

Number pattern: 1, 9, 36, ? What is the next term?

A

100

B

64

C

81

D

121

View answer & explanation Ans: 100

Correct Answer: 100

The differences are 9 - 1 = 8 = 2^3 and 36 - 9 = 27 = 3^3, so the next difference is 4^3 = 64 and the next term is 36 + 64 = 100.

If Z = 26 and NET = 39, then NUT = ?

A

55

B

54

C

56

D

60

View answer & explanation Ans: 55

Correct Answer: 55

Letters take their alphabet positions and are added: N(14) + E(5) + T(20) = 39, which matches NET, so N(14) + U(21) + T(20) = 55.

What is the lateral surface area of a cylinder of radius r and height h?

A

2πrh

B

πr^2h

C

2πr(r + h)

D

πrh

View answer & explanation Ans: 2πrh

Correct Answer: 2πrh

The lateral (curved) surface area is the circumference of the base times the height: 2πr x h = 2πrh. (2πr(r + h) is the total surface area, and πr^2h is the volume.)

Paper practice FAQs

Is this an official CSS MPT past paper? +

No. This is a remainder practice set from a Sir Adnan booklet titled 'CSS MPT MATH' (PPSC/FPSC New Trend 2025-26). It is labelled as practice in the title, slug and paperType, and the year 2026 is the booklet's label, not a claimed exam session.

Why only 5 questions from a 4-page booklet? +

The booklet prints only 9 unique items, most of them repeated two or three times under restarted numbering. Of those 9, the light-year, sky-blue and earthquake-magnitude items were already published in the CSS MPT 2025 Everyday Science section, and the 802.11n Wi-Fi item was dropped as outdated, leaving these 5 non-duplicate, verified items.

How were the answers verified? +

Each answer was rechecked by hand, not copied on trust: the buffaloes equation gives 2b = 24 so b = 12; 9 and 6 sum to 15 and multiply to 54; the series differences are 2^3 and 3^3, so the next difference is 4^3 = 64; N + U + T = 14 + 21 + 20 = 55; and a cylinder's lateral area is circumference times height, 2πrh.

Why was the Wi-Fi item dropped instead of corrected? +

The booklet's item asks for 'the fastest Wi-Fi standard' and answers 802.11n, which was superseded long ago (Wi-Fi 7, 802.11be, is current). Republishing it even with a correction would preserve a misleading exam-style item; the correct current fact is already published with its correction flag in the CSS MPT 2025 Everyday Science section.
